Mission

The Laboratory of Radiation Physics, Materials Technology and Biomedical Imaging (ΑΚΤΥΒΑ) aims to promote scientific research under conditions of academic freedom and voluntary participation of founding members and associates in the activities listed below.

  1. Promotion of systematic and organized scientific research based on the developments in the Sciences and the social benefit, in conditions of academic freedoms and with autonomous, independent and voluntary participation of the founding members and collaborators in the individual activities and issues included in the fields of research of the “AKTYBA” laboratory.
  2. Promotion of free, autonomous and primary research (curiosity driven research), as a search and understanding of scientific knowledge by scientific methods, inextricably linked to its free transmission and free from interference that is not compatible with academic freedoms.
  3. Voluntary cooperation between members of the Laboratory as well as faculty members and scientists of other departments and institutions in areas of scientific research that are part of the research fields of the laboratory or are connected or are complementary to them. The collaboration will be developed on the basis of the formulation of joint research protocols with emphasis on the scientific complementary to common and adjacent scientific objects, but also on the basis of the creation of joint postgraduate programs.
  4. Coverage of the teaching needs of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the University of West Attica or other institutions at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the field of laboratory activities.
  5. Accumulation of experience and know-how in the framework of research teams and creation of stable research nuclei in the research fields of the laboratory in the form of Research Units.
  6. Assistance in development processes of wider networks and research centers and in the quality upgrade of the provided education in conditions of academic freedoms.
  7. Development of collaborations with research centers, institutes and academic institutions of the country or abroad in the form of: (a) organized research programs, (b) free collaborations on the basis of common scientific interests in a spirit of reciprocity, collective work and free movement ideas.
  8. Organization of seminars, symposia, conferences, lectures, exhibitions as well as making publications and publications.
  9. Cooperation with hospitals, clinics, medical centers, administrative organizations and public services, social, scientific and productive bodies and contribution to the study of social, environmental and developmental problems of the country within the framework of academic ethics and based on social benefit.
  10. Contribution to the academic upgrade of the University of West Attica and Higher Education in the country.
